Thursday
I said I would write every day, so here I am. It's nearly 6. I was out of work at 5.
I found out yesterday the new hours I will be working as an analyst. Currently I work 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
My new schedule will be 4 days on, 3 days off. Ten hour days. Saturday, Sunday and Monday 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (or possibly 2 to midnight) with a day shift on Tuesday, 9-7 or 10-8 or something. It's not set in stone, because not all the positions were filled immediately.
That will be interesting. Not ideal, by any means. It took 9 months before I had a semblance of a normal schedule. Started with a Tuesday-Saturday late shift, and gradually moved to a M-F day shift as others left.
The good news is that I'll get a small raise, in addition to benefits and paid vacation. Not a salaried position, which is a shame. I'm approaching my fifth year out of college and I have yet to secure a salaried job. Not great.
I've been thinking about how I want to fill this blog. Normal, boring updates like this aren't particularly interesting to write nor to read, and while they might be fun to read for me years from now, they're mundane now.
It's been suggested I find a niche and stick to it. I'm interested in and fairly knowledgeable about geopolitics, so I'll definitely have some posts about that. Occasionally I plan to do product and service reviews, critiques of books and films, and essays on more abstract philosophy. We'll see how that pans out.
Going to go make some dinner.
